PICC is a catheter inserted into central vein through peripheral vein.
It was inserted through the peripheral veins (basilic vein, median cubital vein and cephalic vein) with the tip located in the lower 1 / 3 of superior vena cava. It is used to provide patients with medium and long-term intravenous infusion treatment.
Why is PICC advocated?
PICC provides an effective way for emergency treatment, monitoring, parenteral nutrition treatment and tumor chemotherapy of critically ill patients.
PICC can be retained for a long time.
PICC avoids the stimulation of drugs to blood vessels.
What kind of catheter is PICC?
The catheter material is silica gel, which is soft, elastic and has little irritation to blood vessels.
The indwelling time of the catheter is long, up to several months to one year, which can reduce the pain of repeated venipuncture, and will not affect the limb activities, daily life is not affected.
To establish a reliable venous access, to provide patients with medium and long-term infusion, chemotherapy, blood transfusion and other treatment to provide effective guarantee, to avoid the stimulation of various drugs on the vascular intima, to ensure the safety of infusion.
It's a radiograph tube. When in use, the position of the catheter and its tip can be confirmed by radiology.
The total length of the catheter is usually 65cm, which can be cut in advance according to individual and treatment needs. There is a centimeter scale on the catheter to ensure the accuracy of catheter trimming.
Model 1.9F, 3F, 4f, 5F, 6F, convenient for different patients to choose.
What kinds of PICC?
The traditional PICC is a single lumen catheter, which is not resistant to high pressure, and can not be used for intravenous injection of contrast agent, so it can not be used for CVP monitoring.
With the development of high pressure resistant polyurethane synthetic PICC catheter, power PICC was first published in the United States in 2004. At present, there are several kinds of power PICC (3,4,5fr), dual cavity PICC (4,5fr) and three cavity PICC (6Fr).
Which patients is PICC suitable for?
Patients who need to infuse irritant or hypertonic solution via vein
When the drug needs to be quickly taken away by the blood
When the drug needs to be rapidly diluted by the blood
Patients requiring medium to long term intravenous infusion
Patients requiring repeated blood collection
When total parenteral nutrition is needed
When high pressure injection of contrast medium is needed
PICC has a wide range of indications. It is recommended that PICC should be used as long as the indications are met, and in order to protect the blood vessels of patients and ensure the safety of static therapy.
Which patients are not suitable for PICC?
Catheter related infection; suspected or confirmed bacteremia or sepsis
In the early stage of kidney disease or dialysis treatment
Poor physical condition, unable to use
Allergic to catheter material
The puncture site had received radiotherapy
Venous embolism or vascular surgery occurred in the catheterization route
What kind of routine maintenance does PICC need?
Three points puncture, seven points maintenance
Correct and standardized maintenance operation can effectively reduce the incidence of PICC complications
Frequency: change the film once every 24 hours after puncture, and then change the film every 7 days, and change it at any time when the dressing is loose or wet.
