CORONARY ANGIOPLASTY BALLOON CATHETER Description
The expansion catheter is designed for easy catheter replacement using a standard length guide wire.The proximal shaft of the catheter consists of a muror connector bonded to a PTFE coated stainless steel tube.The proximal axis consists of a nylon outer tube and an inner tube welded to a balloon at the distal end, which is expected to be tracked through the tortuous vascular system.Two radio-opaque platinum/iridium tags are located on the shoulder of the balloon.The inner tube accepts standard 0.014 "PTCA guide wire.The guide wire enters the catheter tip and coaxially pushes out of the distal RX port, allowing coaxial guidance and rapid catheter exchange using a single standard length guide wire.The two marked segments located on the proximal axis 900mm and 1000mm from the tip of the catheter indicate the position of the catheter relative to the tip of the brachial or femoral catheter.The dilated catheter design does not include a cavity for distal dye injection or distal pressure measurement.
